NZ: Deposit Takers (Branch) Standard

Regulator RBNZ
Jurisdiction NZ
Status Draft — not yet in force
Applicability Platform

The DTA Branch Standard is a non-core standard under the Deposit Takers Act 2023. It applies to overseas deposit takers operating in New Zealand through a branch rather than a locally incorporated entity. It sets requirements for branches regarding capital equivalence, governance, liquidity, and operational arrangements in New Zealand.

This standard has limited direct applicability to a locally incorporated bank but is included for completeness given it forms part of the DTA standards framework. An exposure draft was issued as part of Tranche 1 in October 2025. The standard takes effect 1 December 2028.
